We’re looking for a Policy Affairs Analyst – Low Carbon Transport and Industry to join our business and embark on a journey with us towards a better tomorrow.

“The THG-Quota mechanism is an instrument implemented by the German Government to reduce the CO2 Emissions of the German transportation sector. This mechanism aims to promote the usage of environmentally friendly fuels with the lowest CO2 footprint and to punish fossil fuels with increased taxation. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Tracking, analyzing, and piecing together various policies, legislation, and early political signals and translating them into the direct and indirect market or product effects across economic sectors
- Assisting STX consultants and traders with executing transactions by advising on respective policies
- Proactively proposing new deal/position structures and transactions
- Thought leadership: synthesizing intel into strategic market positioning
- Promoting and demonstrating STX thought leadership internally to senior managers, at national and international conferences, debates, industry association policy negotiations, and client meetings
- Assisting Managers in developing and executing strategic market plays
- Conducting cursory regulatory due diligence on trading/position strategies
- Working with trade analysts on compiling quantitative and macroeconomic data with policy and regulatory input
KEY REQUIREMENTS
- At least 5 years of working experience in consulting on low carbon transport or policy affairs
- Basic understanding of macroeconomic drivers affecting input costs and prices of commodities related to low carbon transport
- Demonstrated exposure to environmental commodities, renewable energy, or electricity in the context of any transport mode is a must, road transport is desired
- Experience in liaising with NGOs, and trade associations is a must. Similar experience interacting with the relevant governmental institutions is desired
- Demonstrated analytical and strategic thinking, culminating in thought-leadership
- Demonstrated ability to communicate legislative developments and the consequent business impacts to senior-level management
- Entrepreneurial attitude and willingness to develop and execute new ideas
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
- Fluent in English and German at a business level
- Based near Amsterdam or Hamburg or willing to relocate there
- Knowledge of DE legislation such as 37 of BImSchG, UERV, 38 of BImSchV, BEHG, and ENERGIESTG is a must; knowledge of EEG network charges and green H2 is desired
